What is the purpose of fashion week?
Historically, New York Fashion Week has served as a way to showcase designers' creations with presentations and runway shows for fashion journalists and store buyers.
NYFW is one of the four major fashion weeks globally, followed by London, Milan and Paris.
Where is NYFW?
From 1993 to 2009, the shows happened under white tents at Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan, relocating in 2010 to Lincoln Center uptown. Spring Studios downtown served as home to the shows starting in 2015, and RXR's Starrett-Lehigh Building in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan will become the new hub starting in 2024.
What celebrities will attend New York Fashion Week 2024?
While the guest list for fashion week is usually kept under wraps, celebrities of all kinds are expected at a front row or two, including Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. In the past, shows have included cameos from Travis Barker, Janet Jackson, Kim Kardashian, Angela Bassett, Lindsey Lohan and others.
How to attend NYFW?
Many NYFW shows are invite-only, but there are options if you want a first look at the latest collections.
CFDA previously streamed runway shows on Runway360 in response to the pandemic, however in December the site was temporarily suspended. Some shows on the schedule are digital only, including activations from Herve Leger, Maisie Wilen and Sho Konishi.
There are several paid options and packages for on-location experiences, according to New York Fashion Week's website, some of which include backstage access and personal styling.
