Romance is no longer part of Halle Bailey and DDG's world.
The Little Mermaid star and the "Moonwalking in Calabasas" rapper have called it quits less than a year after welcoming their 9-month-old son Halo.
"After much reflect and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways," DDG shared in an Oct. 3 statement posted on Instagram Stories. "This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared."
And despite being no longer romantically involved with Halle, DDG said his love for his ex "remains deep and true."
"We are still best friends and adore each other," the 26-year-old noted. "As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared."
Halle has not publicly addressed the breakup. E! News has reached out to her rep for comment but hasn't heard back.
While the Color Purple actress and DDG (born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) went public with their romance 2022, their friendship spans back to 2015.
"I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them," she told Essence in 2022. "He was one of them."
Though she admittedly "forgot about him" just as her own career was taking off, Halle said the two reconnected when DDG started "dropping music."
"I really gravitated toward this one song," she recounted. "Coincidentally he messaged me—and the rest is history.”
That history includes a very private journey to parenthood, with Halle keeping her pregnancy with Halo under wraps until the baby boy was born in late 2023.
"I never lied or even said anything about it," the 24-year-old wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in January after she was accused by a social media user of lying about her pregnancy. "I'll never understand why you are mad I protected my own peace, wouldn't you do the same?"
And in her early days of motherhood, Halle was viligiant about maintaining that peace amid her postpartum depression.
"I have severe, severe postpartum," she shared on Snapchat in April. "Going through it, it feels like you're swimming in this ocean that's like the biggest waves you've ever felt—and you're trying not to drown."
That's why Halle said she has no time to read "hurtful things" about her online.
"You never know what somebody else is going through," she added, "especially someone who just had a baby."
